How do I pick a size?

Two measurements: the width of the opening and the drop. Catalogue sizes or made to the centimetre.

Measure with a rigid tape, left, centre and right: floors and ceilings are rarely dead straight.

Width of the opening

Measure the window from edge to edge. Fit the pole 15 cm above and let it overrun 15–20 cm each side: the window reads larger and light still comes in. Order a curtain width 2 to 2.5 times the window: full folds dress the room and trap air, which helps acoustic and thermal insulation.

The drop

Measure from the top of the pole to the floor. Curtains should kiss the floor, or break 1–2 cm onto it. Stopping short makes the room feel smaller and lets draughts through.

How does the 3-in-1 work?

One curtain, three technical layers sewn together. Each has a measured job.

The face cloth. A plain technical linen with the hang of a heavy curtain. It dresses the window. The technical layers stay out of sight.
The blackout membrane. It blocks 100% of light and UV. You sleep in daylight, and furniture stops fading.
The high-density technical back. It insulates up to 7°C: heat stays out in summer, in in winter, and the energy bill drops. It also takes the edge off outdoor noise, up to -22 dB: the street goes quiet.

Together the three layers reach 620 g/m². That weight is what hangs well and carries the three jobs.

Why I bought it

I sat on this page for two weeks because of the price and the 15 to 20 day wait. I almost bought three cheap curtains and layered them. I am glad I did not.

Street: scooters until midnight. This is not a recording studio. It takes the sharp voices off the glass. We sleep with the window on tilt now. That was the test.

East bedroom, 5am sun. Closed with the extra width they tell you to order, it is dark, not a vinyl cave, dark enough for a nap and for late shifts. Winter, the pane used to feel like a cold wall. Drawn overnight the room holds. 620 g/m² is not a fashion drape. You feel it in the hang.

A curtain cut to your sizes

Each off-white Sérénité panel is made in our workshop to the sizes you send. Width and drop as needed. A 3-metre patio door, a standard French door or a bedroom window: the curtain follows the opening. Full cover at the sides, a clean hang, and a finish catalogue sizes cannot match.
