Street lamp straight onto the bed. Ready-made blackout always leaked at the sides. These were cut to the opening. Dark enough that the lamp is gone.

Why I bought it
I am a nurse on nights. I had lived for years with a supermarket “blackout” that was a grey haze. I did not need thermal. I did not need soundproof. I needed the room dark in the day, cut to the opening, without paying for the 3-in-1 I would not use.
Street lamp on the glass: gone, if you close it properly. Leave a gap and you waste the cloth. That is on the measure, not the weave. Catalogue drops always sat short; light under the hem. Custom drop solved it. Heathered face in hard sun still shows a little texture, not a pinprick. If you want a vinyl cave, this is not that. If you want a curtain that blacks out and still hangs, this is it.
Partner up at 6am, hall light on: the room stays dark. Baby naps on the east window: they hold. Projector in the evening finally works. I measured twice, took grommets because the heading guide said so, and I would not go back to a lining.
That is the whole reason for the order. I should have done it years ago.

Nadia, thank you. Night shifts, a room that stays dark in the day, and no 3-in-1 you did not need: that is exactly what this curtain is for.
A gap at the side or under the hem lets the light back in, so the drop is cut to the opening. Exact-Fit is there if that drop is ever off. Hang it, close it, sleep.
Full dark
Street lamp straight onto the bed. Ready-made “blackout” always leaked at the sides and the top. These were cut to the opening. Dark enough that the lamp is gone. That was the only job I needed this curtain to do.
Shift work
Nurse on nights. I sleep in the day. A lining from a supermarket was a grey haze, not dark. This single-layer blackout actually blacks out. I can sleep past noon. That is the purchase, full stop.
Sleep
Baby still on two naps. East window. We were waking with the sun. Now the room holds dark. Not a cave if you leave a gap. Close it properly and it is dark. Made-to-measure so we did not fight a too-short drop.
Full dark
Heathered cloth: in hard sun you still see a little texture, not a pinprick of light. If you want a vinyl cave, this is not that. For a proper bedroom blackout that still hangs as a curtain, it is right. I took a star off only because I expected a flatter face.
Full dark
I did not need thermal or soundproof. I needed dark, at a made-to-measure drop, without buying the 3-in-1. This is the simpler product and it does that one thing well. Projector screen in the same room finally works in the evening.
Shift work
Shift work plus a partner who gets up early. I needed the room to stay dark when the hall light goes on. Full coverage, no halo at the pole if you use the right heading. Sleep is back. That is why I ordered.
Made to measure
Catalogue sizes always sat 8 cm short. Light under the hem. Custom drop solved it. Seems obvious. I had lived with the leak for years. Do not buy blackout and then leave a gap.
Sleep
Guest room used as a dark office for Zoom. Camera no longer blows out from the window. Blackout was the point, hang is clean. I would not use linen-look here. I needed the room dark, not filtered.
Made to measure
Measured, ordered, hung on grommets. Dark as promised when closed. The heading guide stopped me picking the wrong heading for a track. Small thing, it matters. This is a blackout curtain, not a 3-in-1, and that is what I wanted to pay for.

Your questions.
Is it really 100% blackout?
Yes. The cloth blocks 100% of visible light and UV, in a single 310 g/m² layer. For a complete black with no leak at the sides, made-to-measure lets you cover the whole window.
I'm worried I'll get the measurements wrong.
Our 3-step measuring guide helps you pick a catalogue size or enter your own. The Maison Curtains Exact-Fit Guarantee ($65.00) covers a free remake if you ordered made-to-measure.
Will it work with my pole?
Three headings: Grommet, Korean Pleat and Hook. See our heading guide to match your pole.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery takes 6 to 11 business days, Monday to Friday. You get an email at each step, with tracking as soon as it leaves.
How do I wash it?
Machine wash at 86°F, delicate cycle. No tumble dryer. Iron on low, reverse side. Performance holds after washing.
Can I return it?
30-day returns. Manufacturing defects can be returned or exchanged free of charge. Made-to-measure cannot be returned for change of mind — that is what the Exact-Fit Guarantee is for.
