Second floor on a boulevard. I did not need blackout. I needed the voices and scooters to stop sitting in the room. You still hear the city as a murmur. That is the honest result.

Silence comes down to mass.
Three technical layers assembled into a single panel. Each plays a measurable role: this density is what dampens airborne noise, blocks light and regulates temperature.
-
Decorative technical face
High-strength linen-touch fabric. The look that blends into your interior.
-
Central blackout membrane
Blocks 100% of light and UV. Its mass absorbs mid-to-high airborne noise.
-
High-density thermal and soundproof lining
Up to 7°C thermal gain measured in a laboratory.
100% blackout
The central membrane blocks 100% of visible light and UV. No halo at the edges, no strip of daylight when you wake. You sleep until the hour you chose, even at the height of summer.
Without curtain
With Maison Curtains curtain
Enjoy the pleasure of quiet at home.
Traffic, voices under the windows, a busy street: the Maison Curtains soundproof curtain helps take the edge off outdoor noise coming through a covered opening. Comfort and a proper curtain in one panel.
Up to 22 dB attenuation in optimal install and test conditions. What you hear at home still depends on the noise, how fully the opening is covered, and the hang.
Up to 7°C difference
Dress your window with a three-layer technical curtain that helps with both cold and heat. Up to 7°C thermal gain measured in the laboratory.
The result in your room still depends on the glazing, the exposure and the hang.

Why I bought it
I work from the sitting room on a boulevard. I did not need a cave. I needed the scooters and the pavement talk to stop sitting in the calls. That is why I bought this line and not a blackout I would never close in the day.
It is not silence. Bass from traffic still comes through. They say minus 22 dB, not a sealed room, and that is honest. Voices and the mid noise drop. Colleagues stopped asking me to repeat. Evenings, we use the room again instead of hiding in the back.
Coverage is the whole trick. Ready-made always leaked at the sides; that leak was the noise. Made-to-measure, extra width as they recommend, the panel actually covers the reveal. Sleep over the bar downstairs is not perfect. Door slams no longer wake me.
I felt the sample first. Thick polyester “soundproof” linings I had tried were costume. This has weight and a proper close. If you want cinema hush, this is the wrong product. If you have a real window on a real street, this is the purchase I would make again.

Roberto, thank you. You described the product we actually sell, not the miracle some pages promise. Voices down, bass still there, coverage over the dB number: that is the brief.
If a gap appears at the frame, write to us. Width is where the cloth either works or does not.
Street noise
Second floor on a boulevard. I did not need blackout. I needed the voices and scooters to stop sitting in the room. This soundproof cloth takes the edge off. You still hear the city as a murmur. That is the honest result, and why I bought this line rather than a fashion drape.
Work from home
I work calls from the sitting room. Echo and street noise were making me look unprofessional. Drawn, the room is drier, less live. Colleagues stopped asking me to repeat. That was the test.
Sleep
Bedroom over a bar. Sleep was the pain. Not silent, but I no longer wake at every door slam. Heavy hang, full coverage of the opening. If you leave gaps, you waste the cloth. I ordered the extra width they recommend.
Street noise
Bass from traffic still comes through. Voices and mid noise drop. I knew that from the minus 22 dB claim: it is not a sealed room. If you want cinema silence, this is the wrong product. For a real window, it does the job.
Coverage
Made-to-measure so the panel actually covers the reveal. Ready-made always left light and noise at the sides. That leak was the whole problem. These sit past the frame. Night is quieter. That is why I paid for custom width.
Sleep
I compared “soundproof” linings that were just thick polyester. This has weight and a proper close. The room feels padded. Sleep improved within a week. I would not go back to a thin ready-made.
Street noise
Open kitchen onto the street. Evenings were loud enough that we stopped sitting there. Curtain drawn, we use the room again. Not magic, a notch down. That notch was the reason for the order.
Work from home
WFH and a toddler’s nap in the next room. I needed the living-room TV not to travel. With the curtain closed on the noisy window, the flat is more usable. Heading was grommets on a pole, simple. Cloth does the work.
Coverage
I ordered samples first. The hand of the cloth convinced me more than the copy. Hung now: dense, even folds, and the street is less present. Coverage matters more than the dB number. Get the width right.

Your questions.
Does it actually work against noise?
Traffic, conversations under the windows, a busy street: the Maison Curtains soundproof curtain helps cut the outdoor noise that comes through the covered opening. Comfort and a proper curtain in one panel. Up to 22 dB attenuation in optimal install and test conditions. What you hear at home still depends on the noise, how fully the opening is covered, and the hang.
Does it block bass, trucks, upstairs neighbours?
No, and no textile does. Bass frequencies and vibration (a subwoofer, engines, impact noise) travel through the building: only the mass of a wall stops them. The curtain works on airborne mid-to-high noise, not on vibration.
Doesn't sound leak through the sides?
If the hang leaves gaps, yes. To seal the window: overlap 15 cm on each side, fix the rail as close to the ceiling as you can, and let the cloth skim the floor. Sound gets in the way air does.
Will my pole hold this curtain?
The curtain is dense (620 g/m²): a panel weighs several kilos depending on size. Use a stout pole or a track fixed into a load-bearing support. Tension poles will not hold the weight over time.
I'm worried I'll get the measurements wrong.
Our 3-step measuring guide helps you pick a catalogue size or enter your own. The Maison Curtains Exact-Fit Guarantee (£49.00) covers a free remake if you ordered made-to-measure.
Will it work with my pole?
Three headings: Grommet, Korean Pleat and Hook. See our heading guide to match your pole.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery takes 6 to 11 business days, Monday to Friday. You get an email at each step, with tracking as soon as it leaves.
How do I wash it?
Machine wash at 30°C, delicate cycle. No tumble dryer. Iron on low, reverse side. Performance holds after washing.
Can I return it?
30-day returns. Manufacturing defects can be returned or exchanged free of charge. Made-to-measure cannot be returned for change of mind — that is what the Exact-Fit Guarantee is for.
Description
Charcoal brings a soft, natural light while still covering fully. The colour sits in most interiors, from spare Scandinavian rooms to a quieter classic.
Three jobs in one curtain, made to measure or catalogue size
The charcoal Sérénité curtain is a blackout, thermal and soundproof panel in catalogue sizes or made to measure. Three problems at once: noise, cold and light. The 3-layer make-up at 620 g/m² is measured performance most curtains do not claim.
Charcoal: which rooms?
A light colour opens small rooms. It suits bedrooms, bright sitting rooms, and north-facing rooms that lack daylight.
A curtain cut to your sizes
Each charcoal Sérénité panel is made in our workshop to the sizes you send. Width and drop as needed. A 3-metre patio door, a standard French door or a bedroom window: the curtain follows the opening. Full cover at the sides, a clean hang, and a finish catalogue sizes cannot match.
How it sits in a room
Charcoal sits with white, light grey, beige or pastel walls. Natural wood, rattan or white metal keeps the room calm.
